California World Fest: Connection through Music
Nestled in Nevada City, California World Fest will be celebrating their 20th year as an international, family friendly festival. This year’s line-up includes performances by Nahko & Medicine for the People, Dustin Thomas, Delhi to Dublin, and so many more. The intention behind the festival is utilizing music as a unifying tool between communities, and on a more micro scale, individuals – a space to celebrate and share cultures with one another.
This four day festival is known for being a safe space for families. There are a variety of kid orientated workshops and even a lake that offers children’s onshore fishing. The music ends at 11pm most nights, allowing parents and kids alike, to enjoy all of their favorite bands, without compromising any sleep. Earth Guardians, a group of young teen activists who perform music and tackle climate change, will also be gracing one of the eight stages at WorldFest – a real treat for adults and kids alike.
The focus is being taken off of the party scene that is often evident at festivals, and put on connection through ceremony, music, and pure human interaction. And of course growth – though there will still be two bars serving all your favorite drinks, some Sierra Nevada, ‘Ol Republic Brewery, and local wines. With such intention set on supporting local vendors, and a line-up full of artists that promote awareness and talk change, World Fest is really a gem in this year’s circuit.
