Track of the Week – Golden Features “Worship”
There is a particular sound coming from Australia that we simply cannot deny. A sinister mix that’s a little deep house, a little techno, and a little something unique, we’ve been following this sound for the past few years. Tom Stell AKA Golden Features is the pioneer of a brand of bass music spreading down under. He’s wildly popular in his home country, hailing from Syndey. His tracks have never failed to impress, and this latest release is no different. This week’s Track of the Week is the latest from Golden Features, “Worship.”
This track of the week opens up with the small hints of sound we’ve come to love from Golden Features. The dark undertones and deep vocals paint a picture that only the lonely can understand. As the song builds, cryptic lyrics plague the listener as the beat enters. Then, the bass hits and the dark techno chorus remind us why we fell in love with Golden Features in the first place. His signature bass pulls the listener into this dark world. The driving beat and minor chords are impossible to ignore. The track is far more than a toe-tapper, but an earworm for the dance floor. The track bends back and forth between smooth vocals and a dark beat we’ve grown to recognize.
“Worship is a song about what feelings of isolation can drive us to.” – Tom Stell
“Worship” comes at the wake of Golden Features’ newest album SECT set to drop July 27th. “A full-length result of tireless hours spent in the studio refining his sound, the ten-track project is a creative journey and defining statement from Golden Features that fans will soon hear.” We’re pumped to see what Stell has is in store after spending almost all of 2017 in the studio. He heads out on his Australian tour in August, already selling out Melbourne. Check out the full SECT tracklist and “Worship” below.
