TOTD: Uppermost – “Emotion”
Paris. Known for its glamour and fashion, the French capital has always been a major staple for the arts. Music, of course, has its own history in the City of Light, having a handful of artists bless the region with their artistry. Among them is the Parisian electronic producer, Behdad Nejatbakshe, better known under his Uppermost moniker. Nejatbakshe charmed his way into our hearts with the release of “Constellation,” where its audio induced us into a celestial moment. The Parisian artist manages to do it once more with his latest single, “Emotion.”
Starting off a repetitive melody, “Emotion” brings us into the now — blissful electronica with a hint of pop. It’s easy to find yourself in love with the track; Uppermost making his Daft Punk influence known (and if you don’t love that robotic duo, see yourself out). “Emotion” definitely has a knack for capturing Behdad’s positive energy, never hitting a low while maintaining a continuous euphoric high. When electronica can include a familiar pop sound (the riff has a hint of Taylor Swift’s “Style”), all is right in the world.
Origins (2011-2016) is slated for release Feb. 10.
