Sunday Is For Football
Week 14 was filled with red hot games! Drew Brees reached 50,000 passing yards in his career against a lackluster Carolina Panthers. My Miami Dolphins held off the Steelers to keep their playoff hopes alive. Call it luck, call it karma, call it what you will — it was fantastic! Broncos fans were treated to a great game with Peyton Manning proving he can sling it in the cold with 4 TD’s, no interceptions and almost 400 yards passing, and kicker Matt Plater kicking an NFL record 64 yard FG! The Snow Bowl in Philadelphia was an outrageous game. McCoy (Eagles) rushed for over 200 yards, and Ross (Lions) had a punt return AND a kick off return for 2 touchdowns in about 8 inches of snow on the field!
As the playoffs chase starts to heat up (see below for who’s in and who’s out), there are some key games to watch this weekend. The Patriots go into Miami in hopes of securing a playoff spot, while Miami hopes to stay alive in the wildcard hunt. I know it’s a long shot, but Miami could win this game. Tom Brady has not been playing his best football, and if Miami’s defense can get a pass rush going, I think they can pressure Brady into making some bad decisions! Miami’s offensive line needs to play their best game of the season, keep Tannehill upright and give him plenty of time in the pocket. Tannehill also needs to be smart with the football and not make any boneheaded decisions. I am going all heart with this one — Miami upsets the Pats for the win!
The Green Bay Packers vs Dallas Cowboys game is an important one for both teams. The Packers are only one win behind the Bears and Lions, and they should be getting Aaron Rodgers back in a week or two. If they can win this game they will be in a prime position for a playoff spot. Likewise, The Cowboys are one win behind the surging Eagles and desperately need this game to keep the hopes for the division alive! I have a feeling this will be a nail biter. In order for Dallas to win, their defense needs to put Green Bay’s offense in check. Can they do that? I have serious doubts that they can, but every time I doubt them they manage to surprise me. For Green Bay to win they will need to stop Romo and Dez Bryant from making big plays. Again, I am going all in and going with the Packers for the win!
