Stop and Surrender the Quesadilla, Mr. Miller
Bode Miller is known as one of the best downhill ski racers of all time with an impressive 6 Olympic medals and 5 world championship medals, but he is also known as a source of controversy in the skiing world. In 2005, after losing one of his skis 16 seconds into the race, he decided to continue the race with just the one before crashing illegally two minutes later near the bottom of the run. Also he revealed in a 60 Minutes interview that skiing completely wasted, while very difficult and dangerous, is not against the rules of the sport.
But now he has done something that is truly heinous and unforgivable: this past Thursday, for the first round of Masters Tournament play, Bode and his wife Morgan Beck, a professional beach volleyball player and model, were stopped by security and ordered to surrender a quesadilla that they intended to carry with them as the walked the course.
“If you pay $7,500, you ought to be able to bring out a quesadilla,” Miller said.
When will Bode learn that his antics have no place at Augusta? Hopefully one day we can all find it in our hearts to forgive him.
