‘Road to Camp Bisco’ – Tim Shay
I have been to Camp Bisco three times and am looking forward to number four in 2012. Camp Bisco has, from year to year, seen me change as I have grown, and I can say the same about the festival itself.
Before my first Camp Bisco in 2009 I had attended other music festivals to nurture my music fascination. Along the way I had caught a few glimpses of the Disco Biscuits, who upon first experience interested me, frightened me, turned me over in my future grave with awful voice cracks, but above all blew me out of the water.
Before I knew it I was seeing these guys [the Disco Biscuits] whenever possible, and of course, buying my early bird tickets to Camp Bisco as soon as I had enough paper under the mattress. During my three years in attendance, I have discovered oodles of new music, made new friends, and watched a living, breathing thing called ‘Bisco’ grow bigger and stronger with each new wide-eyed fan saying ‘Oh my god, did they play that song backwards?’
The me who attended Camp Bisco 9 saying, ‘Well, I guess I’ll go to the fest with my favorite band playing six times,’ has shifted shape when needed to accomodate various life changes, but still cannot help to feed the need for what it wants more than anything…Three days of discovery and fun! (and an inverted digital buddha).
Camp Bisco XI is returning to the Indian Lookout Club in Mariaville, NY on July 12-14, 2012. Get your tickets while you still can!
