PHB Track of the Day: Greenhouse Lounge – “Release”
Today’s track of the day comes off of Greenhouse Lounge‘s 2014 EP, The Other Side. The track highlights the unique sound, which takes elements of drum & bass, house, trance, R&B and hip-hop (to name a few), they have tapped into since their inception. With many producers now billing “live band” performances, GHL pioneered and perfected this trade years ago. Below features a pre-release Grooveshark Presents video of “The Other Side” with past drummer John Wilkes.
Founded in 2006, Greenhouse Lounge has endured a slew of personnel changes and a fluctuation in membership. Billed at one point as a five-piece, Zach Weinert (Guitar, Programming), Dave McSweeny (Bass), and Ray Felts (Drums) have amassed a fanbase that stems from their hometown in Jacksonville, Florida to every corner of the country. Former drummer Jason Hunnicutt said farewell to the band in 2012 to pursue opening what is now a staple of the Jacksonville music scene, 1904 Music Hall. After an on and off relationship with Jason’s replacement, John Wilkes, Zach and Dave ended the drummer hunt with Ray and the payoff has been immediately apparent. GHL has a jam-packed and well-deserved schedule in 2015. They are currently touring the East Coast with Particle, with an appearance at Euphoria Music Festival in April, the Purple Hatter’s Ball – a band favorite – in May, and Wakarusa in June.
Purple Hatter’s Ball will host a wealth of musical talent May 8th – 10th at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park. Early Bird weekend passes, which include three days of music and camping, are still available on the festival’s website for $99 plus taxes and fees. Passes for the Thursday pre-party also available online for $40 which include camping. To join the wait list for cabins, golf cart rentals and RV hook-ups, please contact Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park at (386) 364-1683.
