Mysteryland Know Before You Go: Stages
Top thing this year at Mysteryland will definitely be the curated stages! There are just so many we can’t event begin to list them all. If you’re not totally sure what all of the different stage names mean, don’t worry, here are a few big names you should definitely know about. These are some key reasons why these stages will be the best thing about your Memorial Day Weekend, plus a pre-festival track released by each stage to get you in the mood:
Flying Circus: Presented by Verboten, Hosted by THUMP
This stage has been co-sponsored by two amazing EDM culture curators: THUMP and Verboten. THUMP is the electronic music and culture channel from VICE that was established in 2013 in response to the rapidly growing movement that is EDM culture. Verboten was once a NYC party organizer (known for bringing in legendary and up-and-coming deep house and tech-house artists) that was so wildly successful that last year they established themselves as an official night club in Brooklyn. (Fun fact: Verboten & THUMP are just down the street from each other! And Verboten means forbidden in German.) These curators of culture come together to bring us the Flying Circus Stage. According to the THUMP website:
Saturday will bring you Burning Man legends and trip-house extraordinaires Lee Burridge and Damian Lazarus, along with AndHim, Eric Volta, Bedouin and Stadenco. If you fancy yourself a Verboten regular, this roster should seem fitting, as these artists all are fixtures at the Williamsburg temple of beats.
Sunday, which will be hosted by the party maestros over at Flying Circus, opens up the grounds for The Martinez Brothers, Audiofly, Martin Buttrich, Guti (Live),Jozif and a few more skilled selectors.
Don’t also forget to check out the Verboten BBQ, hosted by the executive chef Chris McLaughlin at Verboten, at the Eats n’ Beats area!
For anyone who hails from New York and is involved in the electronic scene, particularly the house and bass music scene, then you know Webster Hall. The weekly series “Girls & Boys” (est. 2010) has hosted some of the greatest names in today’s house and bass music scene, drawing in the young, sweaty masses with their kandi and glowsticks. And now they will be bringing their party out of the night club and into the festival world this Sunday.
Adam Beyer Presents Drumcode
This Sunday, Adam Beyer will be hosting the Drumcode stage. Beyer established his label, Drumcode, in 1996 and it has releasing amazing music, particularly techno, ever since. Be sure to also check out the Drumcode radio show here!
The Beatport Stage (Also Known as the Big Top)
Beatport, an SFX Entertainment company, is the world’s leading online provider of music, tools and resources customized for the unique needs and demands of DJs. You’ve probably heard of them for their music charts–their sales charts serve as the industry barometer for what tracks are currently jumping in the clubs before crossing over into the mainstream. Beatport will also be hosting its own stage all weekend long! Beatport will officially be hosting the Big Top tent throughout the weekend. The programming will begin Friday, May 22 with the BeatportStage Exclusive Opening Party, featuring performances by Richie Hawtin, A-Trak, GTA, Maceo Plex, Josh Wink and Tropkillaz. Beatport welcomesMatthew Dear Presents Subversions on Saturday, May 23, a concept curated by Matthew Dear, including sets from Paco Osuna, special guest Maya Jane Coles, Matador, Anja Schneider, Ryan Elliott and Kevin Castro.
