Lighting in a Bottle Music & Performance Spotlight: Liquid Bloom
Lightning in a Bottle is known for its expansive list of panels and workshops that happen throughout the 5-day festival. This year in the Lucent Temple of Consciousness, festival goers are in for a treat with a packed schedule of educational and inspirational acts. One of those being Amani Friend of the Desert Dwellers’ project: Liquid Bloom. Friend will be featured in the music & performance section of the Temple, where downtempo and electro-acoustic sounds will accompany performances for a mind-altering experience.
During an interview with Friend, he mentioned his excitement for his set at Lightning in a Bottle, due to the March 14th release of Liquid Bloom’s remix and collaborative project of the song “Enseñame” — originally recorded and produced by Numatik. All of the proceeds of this project are going directly to help save the Cloud Forest in Guatemala. The songs are all prayers of gratitude to Mother Earth. “May we remember her land as our own flesh and her forests as our own lungs. Through our music, may we hear her heartbeat,” explains the message via the SoundCloud description.
Liquid Bloom’s set at LiB will be accompanied by performers to enhance the sound-healing, trance-like states of the music. Expect to see some familiar faces from the Desert Dweller’s Live Experience crew. Liquid Bloom is where organic and self-recorded sounds from nature, along with mixed vocals and world instrumentation come together to create a truly unique experience. He specializes in bringing his audience to attention, to the present, to their breath.
What Lightning in a Bottle brings to the scene is more than just good music and vibes, but the ability to truly check oneself. There are so many opportunities for growth; to teach, to be taught, and to be brought back to the present moment that is now. Lucent is an adjective for growing or to give off light, within the Temple of Consciousness, LiB goers will have the opportunity to harness their own luminescence and reflect that back to the world.
