It’s Time to Start Thinking About Camp Bisco XI
Now that New Year’s run is officially over, it’s time to look (very) forward to what the summer has to offer. Forgotten about in the chaos of this past week, Camp Bisco, our favorite time of year, has finally arrived! Understandably, many of you may not have the money to splurge on a ticket for your favorite band’s festival after splurging on them all week. However, for those of you that haven’t spent all of your money on concert tickets, or have a little extra cash held over from the holidays, consider getting your ticket to Camp Bisco 11 today. With the quantity and variety of musical acts seen over the past decade, it stands to reason that Camp Bisco can only get better as it closes in on its eleventh year. Past performers, in addition to the headlining Disco Biscuits, include: LCD Soundsystem; Cut Copy; Wiz Khalifa; Skrillex; Ratatat; Ghostland Observatory; Shpongle Live; Nas and Damian Marley; Snoop Dogg; Method Man, Ghostface Killah, & Raekwon; Ween; Kid Cudi; Thievery Corporation Live; Girl Talk; DJ Shadow; Bassnectar; MSTRKRFT; The Roots; Pretty Lights; Rusko; Diplo; Major Lazer; Chromeo; Holy F#ck; Caribou; Yeasayer; STS9; and !!!.
After selling out an Early Bird Holiday Special almost instantly, including the Early Bird Holiday Special re-release, three-day general admission tickets are still available on Camp Bisco’s website for an Early Bird price of $155.00. MCP Presents and the Disco Biscuits have also taken several steps to improve this year’s Camp Bisco, returning to Indian Lookout Country Club in Mariaville, New
York from July 12, 2011 through July 14, 2011, to allow this summer’s festival to be the best one yet. First, for those who lived the horror stories of waiting on line for hours upon hours just to get inside the festival, there will be a third main gate open for a more expedient entrance. The next improvement involves the dance and late night tents. Do you remember last year’s late nights and how difficult it was just to get near the tents, let alone inside of them? Well, this year’s dance tents have been expanded to include you and all of your friends. This crowding leads to the next improvement: lowered capacity. To all those that ventured to Camp Bisco before its tenth anniversary, you saw the explosion in attendance at Camp Bisco 10 that nearly doubled Camp Bisco 9 and more than doubled the years before that. However, MCP Presents has taken this chaos into account and, for both the safety and comfort of all patrons, has lowered the capacity at Indian Lookout Country Club for an increasingly enjoyable experience.
Additionally, woods camping is available for the first time ever. Offered at various other festivals in summers’ past, woods camping is a first for Camp Bisco at the Mariaville location and should prove to be an excellent option for those who want a shadier place to camp and a bit more room than usual. Coupled with increased venue facilities, which I can only image to be more bathrooms, ice and food stands, Camp Bisco has been coordinated to make your festival-going experience as easy as possible. Ask any attendee of any festival; more port-a-potties and ice stands are essential to a quality experience. Lastly, to help make the event even more spacious, Camp Bisco is offering separate car camping passes for a low price of $20.00. While this may seem like an unnecessary fee, it will help encourage carpooling so Camp Bisco can leave as little of a carbon footprint as possible, as well as make for more room on the actual camping grounds when cars are parked in a separate area. Anyone who was at Camp Bisco 10 will know that this is certainly an improvement after the sardine-can camping of last year. For those of you with no vehicle, or those who do not want to worry about putting their car in a separate area, do not fret. For just a few extra dollars, MCP Presents has arranged for long distance shuttles from some of the largest cities in the northeast like Albany, Baltimore, Boston, Buffalo, Burlington, New York City and Philadelphia to allow you to travel to and from the festival worry-free. These improvements, combined with what is sure to be a stellar lineup, are helping to set up Camp Bisco 11 to be the best Camp Bisco yet!
