Returning to the Gathering of the Vibes for another epic year, Cosmic Karma Fire is not your average group of fire playing hooligans. When it comes to skill, safety, and professionalism, CKF takes the cake! If they had a physical cake, they would probably find a way to set it on fire.
Founded by Cosmic Greg, with members scattered all over the states, they come together to provide jaw-dropping entertainment for your viewing pleasure. Along with furious flames, Cosmic Karma’s performances also involve acrobatics, stilt walking, glow shows, workshops, and prop performance training. Not only do the performers flow, but the entirety of the show has a flow of its own; with themed outfits, danger build-ups, and the occasional jokes, Cosmic Karma knows how to hold a crowd’s attention. Each member has their own distinct style and dance, and perform several different acts and varieties. Performing and practicing on a regular basis together and on their own is the key to their success. The use of ropes and lights to designate the fire performing zone, trained fire safety staff, and insured performers provides a “dangerously safe” experience for all.
For Cosmic Karma,Gathering of the Vibes feels like home. It’s a place where all members can gather and have their art shared and appreciated. If you’re looking to add to the awe and wonder of your Vibes experience, this year a performance by CKF is certainly something not to miss.Throughout the dark hours of the night, you can find them performing at different locations throughout the festival.
Performing this weekend will be Cosmic Greg Lee, Casandra Richardson (Sassy Cassie), Joe Janicki (Jumpin Joe) Lauren Beth Stine (LB or Lady Blaze), Corey Glover, David Wagner, Das Moose, Chris McMullen (Christopher, Travis Knuth, Sasha FireGypsy Gaulin, Anna Sanns, Victoria Sanns (Tor Gypse), Michelle Elvira, Katel EL Tommy Devezio, and maybe a few other surprises! Below are just a few of the performers and what they specialize in!
Corey Glover started spinning fire solo to teach himself the discipline that comes with learning the art of fire. He uses snakes, a dragon staff, poi, staff, and fire breathing and eating to amaze his audience. Poi and object manipulation to him are an extension of who you are.
Cosmic Greg Lee, founder of Cosmic Karma Fire, has brought so much energy and professionalism to CKF! Greg has been performing for 7 years. He loves to perform and travel and attends as many festivals as he can. Performing with almost every tool there is, Greg’s wide range of fire skills never fails to surprise an audience. Some of his favorites are: poi, staff, breathing, eating, fleshing, commets, snakes, jump rope, nun chucks, hackie sack, double staff, meteor, rope dart, and more. But most of all, his favorite performing tool is a smile, because he loves what he does. He enjoys interacting with the crowd and getting them involved with the show.
David Wagner acquired a great passion for the art of fire and fire performing through meeting Cosmic Karma Fire in 2010. After learning the safety measures and procedures with them, he then started picking up and practicing the tools of the trade such as, poi, double staff, clubs, orb, rope dart, meteor, and fire eating. He is the owner and producer of The One Moose Orchestra. Moose is very passionate about flow arts and the art of fire, and offers private classes on learning to poi, performing with poi, as well as fire safety and fire eating lessons.
Sassy Cassie – Cassie Richardson’s life growing up revolved primarily around gymnastics. Reaching level 7 out of a 10 level system, and competing across the country, she has learned to embrace performing for various audiences. Hoping to channel her acrobatics away from competition and more towards entertainment, she has exceeded in combining her gymnastics background with fire performing. Her conditioned nature for precision and audience enticement creates quite the remarkable show. Cassie began her flow arts career with poi; now, her repertoire has grown to include: fans, double staffs, hoop, dragon staff, contact staff, levitation wand, clubs, and fire eating, all done with solo and/or partner acrobatics.
Joe Janicki (Jumping Joe) makes his living as a designer and fine artist, as well as bike stunt and fire performer. He has been competing in a sport called bicycle trials for over 15 years, has numerous podium finishes, and has team sponsorships for clothing and bike parts. He developed a trials bike with torches attached to the axles. The fire bike show is the first of its kind and combines his ability to spin and jump his bike with fire spinning in an exciting and nail-biting new way. Aside from the fire bike, he has been spinning the devil sticks, otherwise known as flower sticks or juggling sticks, since he was a child. He also spins poi, and is beginning to learn all the different performing props such as staff, sword, rope dart as well as fire eating. He brings originality, creativity, humor to his performance.
Lauren Beth Stein, LB or Lady Blaze, has been hula hooping since 1997 and spinning fire since 2005. Along with hooping, LB performs fire eating, breathing, devil stix, and paints her body with fire. She can also be found walking on stilts, inside of a giant puppet, and with roller skates strapped to her feet under the name of Pam TERROR! # 9.
