Electric Zoo Announces Massive Phase One Of Artist Lineup!
After last year’s unfortunate tragedies that manifested in the death of two festival goers which ultimately and appropriately derailed last year’s event, Electric Zoo has announced the first phase of it’s already massive lineup. A few weeks ago Electric Zoo made it public that the gargantuan three day extravaganza would be returning to Randall’s Island at the end of the summer, despite rampant speculation that this year’s festival would be cancelled by the City of New York. Last year’s Electric Zoo was especially wild, with one patron being sexually assaulted and a total of 31 arrests ranging from drug possession with intent to distribute, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, occurring over the festival’s first two days. Despite all of these discouraging occurrences, Made Event, the production company that holds Electric Zoo, is prepared to hold the festival this Labor Day weekend with greatly increased medical protocol and security standards.
Despite last year’s unfortunate installment Electric Zoo has been New York City’s marquee festival since it’s commencement in 2009. Electric Zoo is notorious for packing some of the most ridiculously stacked lineups in the Dance Music landscape, and this year is no different. Today Electric Zoo revealed Phase 1 of it’s monster roster and it already has us salivating.
This year’s lineup is full of veteran heavy weights like Armin van Buren, Kaskade, Knife Party, Dash Berlin, Sasha, Paul Van Dyk, Bingo Players, Laidback Luke and Benny Bennasi. Phase 1 also has some exciting newcomers that we can’t wait to check out like the undeniably dominant forces of Jack U and Destroid, French superstars Gesaffelstein and Madeon, Prog-Step pioneer Seven Lions and some true icons of Drum & Bass including Chase & Status, Netsky and Sub Focus.
This year’s edition of Electric Zoo is already looking pretty amazing. As a community we all need to take responsibility for one another and do everything in our power to make sure that last year’s calamities aren’t repeated. Whether that means asking a random person how they are feeling if they look like they are in bad shape, sharing water with the raver next to you in the middle of a hectic crowd, or taking someone to the nearest medical tent when they need help, we all can do our part to restore the image and atmosphere of Electric Zoo this summer.
