Denver’s Audioculture partners with NYC’s own Heart Beats and Basshead Squad to bring a Valentines weekend extravaganza
On February 15th, New York City will be proud hosts of the ever growing bass music scene featuring artists Meso, Ziim, Odachi, Charmae, and Ecliptics. The event will be held at a brand new venue named The Dance opening the door for new sounds and styles into the big city. This show marks the first collaboration between Denver, Colorado production company Audioculture and New York’s Heart Beats and Basshead Squad aiming to blend together the riveting West Coast sound alongside the compelling New York flair. The event will be presented in memory of Matthew Michaud and a portion of the proceeds will go towards the Matthew Michaud Scholarship fund which will help one aspiring producer/musician towards schooling.
As the label head of Spicy Bois, Meso has made a name for himself curating a unique sound that is known all throughout the underground scene. Meso aka Kevin Lee provides a fresh outlook on dub as an Asian-American in a historically caucasian scene.
Ziim hails from Bristol Connecticut and has thrived in the epicenter of dub out in Denver, Colorado. Providing an earthly and dark style will feed those seeking something more sinister yet artistic.
Odachi returns to New York after his summer performance with Pushloop and Smith. A Washington Heights native who embodies rich soundscapes alongside groovy bass.
Charmae is an accomplished singer and producer hailing from Portland, Oregon. With roots in classical Jazz she has adopted the electronic spectrum and taken it over by storm. Her emphatic vocals are displayed by artists such as Conrank, Jaenga, Protohype and many more big names to come. Charmae‘s live show incorporates singing and DJing to set her apart from the rest of the competition.
Last but not least, Ecliptics will be closing out this memorable night. Starting off in metal bands and learning to produce pop, he met Charmae and quickly fell in love with the bass scene. Over the course of a year he has released an EP alongside collaborations with local standouts and developed his style which is a fusion of glitch hop and experimental bass.
