The Dynamic & Quirky Miss Cactus & the Desert Showcase Lead Single “Dating School”
Hailing from Boston, Miss Cactus & The Desert is a dynamic indie band with a knack for blending a wide array of musical dialects. WIth a sound rife with influences ranging from reggae, folk and Latin music Miss Cactus & The Desert is a truly refreshing collective with a style all their own. Now the band is set to make major ripples with the upcoming release of their debut EP, Oasis. The lead single from their upcoming release is the saucy and exhilarating tune “Dating School.”
With a glitzy and intriguing accompanying music video, “Dating School” showcases the band’s wide-ranging musicianship and quirky personality. Tones of jazz and salsa bleed through as Miss Cactus steals the show with her undeniable charisma and vocal talent.
Miss Cactus hopes to empower and encourage women, especially brown women to not be afraid to act based on what they think is right, and not what their female elders (most likely biased with problematic opinions) tell them they should act like.
The two characters in the story represent women as they are negatively perceived in traditional culture: sexualized, submissive, dumb or weak which are better translated positively and not to be confused as powerful, intuitive and feminine. Miss Cactus urges the world to understand that femininity does not necessarily equal airhead.
With this initial effort, Miss Cactus & the Desert absolutely grab our attention and pique our imagination of what’s to come on their upcoming debut EP Oasis. Connect with the band on Facebook and Soundcloud.
