Crush Effect – Until The Next [Pay What You Want]
Crush Effect is the electro-soul project of SoCal-based producers, Jesse Molloy and David Veith. The dynamic duo’s latest release Until the Next is the epitome of electronic versatility, as it blends future-funk elements with soulful samples, while simultaneously flirting with glitch-hop sound.
The 7-track euphonic adventure begins with the soothingly soulful sounds of “Capital L.” However, the energy and hype is quickly brought up a notch with “Open Your Eyes” featuring Raashan Ahmad & Trev’Le Mu; the track utilizes deliciously aggressive basslines and energetic hip-hop flows.
“Otis” is my absolute favorite track on the album; it samples the infamous Outkast’s “Da Art of Storytellin'” over adrenaline-pumping basslines and gypsy-jazz sounds. “Until the Next” closes out the EP out with a sentimental saxophone solo over a subtle emotional piano, leaving the listener’s ears craving more.
Until the Next is available via pay-what-you-want donation, so if your soul feels moved by this music, make sure to donate and download.
