Counterpoint Music Festival Makes A Much-Anticipated Comeback In 2014!
After taking a hiatus in 2013, Counterpoint Music & Arts Festival will be making a triumphant return to the festival circuit this year. MCP Presents (the folks who bring us Camp Bisco) and C3 Presents (the team behind Lollapalooza) are joining forces to bring this brilliant festival back to life in 2014. Counterpoint Music Festival will be held from April 25th- April 27th, fifty minutes outside of Atlanta at Kingston Downs. This year, Counterpoint is poised to distinguish itself as one of the premiere festivals in the states with an art village, internationally renowned food vendors, an array of unique workshops, and a world-class lineup of artists.
Many festivals are attempting to branch out and build more diverse lineups that will attract a wider range of music lovers, but very few of these festivals have as varied a lineup as Counterpoint. This year, Counterpoint is bringing an amazing host of artists that will include a little bit of everything for everyone. For the hip-hop enthusiasts out there, Schoolboy Q, Rich Homies Quan, Run The Jewels, Chance The Rapper and J. Cole will be joining headliners and Atlanta natives Outkast for what I am sure will be an amazing homecoming performance. Of course this year’s lineup is boasting some of the biggest names in EDM, like Pretty Lights, Big Gigantic, Major Lazer, Flux Pavillion, Boys Noize, Above & Beyond, A-Trak, Mat Zo, Shpongle and Griz. If that wasn’t enough Counterpoint is bringing some of the best live acts to grace a stage as well, including STS9, Papadosio, Foster The People, Matt & Kim, Moon Taxi, Sleigh Bells, and Janelle Monae.
Counterpoint is pulling out all the stops this time around; festival organizers are hoping to bring bigger attractions and more activities than ever before. This year’s attractions will range from festival workshops, carnival rides, a game center, Counterpoint Cares non-profit center, brewery gardens and bars, Georgia Eats food court, and even a lazy river to chill in. After taking last year off, the festival has migrated to its new home at the gorgeous Kingston Downs. This new location is 5,000 acres of rolling Georgia hills and scenic perfection. Surrounded on three sides by the Etowah River, Kingston Downs has played host to the Atlanta Steeplechase for the past twenty years, and will certainly be a perfect locale for what is sure to be an ideal festival. Counterpoint will not only be an unforgettable musical experience, but also an outstanding visual adventure. The festival’s art village will include some of the best young artists and art installations that the southeast has to offer.
Okay so let’s get down to the fine print, shall we? Tickets for Counterpoint are on sale and you can grab yours here. Advance General Admission tickets are on sale for $180, and when you add a camping pass, they are still only $205. For a three-day camping festival Counterpoint is definitely one of the most affordable events of the summer. If you aren’t keen on roughing it for three days, there are several hotel and travel packages. RV parking and glamping options are available for very reasonable prices as well. One of the best parts about Counterpoint that sets it apart from all the other music festivals out there is the fact that there are NO SERVICE CHARGES that get added to the price of your ticket! What you see is what you pay and not a penny more.
So let’s sum it up. Counterpoint totes a stellar and diverse lineup at a beautiful location, complete with first class art, food, drink, and attractions, all for a very manageable price tag. In the coming weeks, we will be spotlighting some of the artists you definitely won’t want to miss, so stay tuned for all the big news that will be released in the next few weeks! If you are looking for a one-of-a-kind festival experience that is still unspoiled and relatively unknown, Counterpoint is the perfect summer kick-off party for you.
