Celebrate Jazz Fest Cubes with a Jazz and Heritage Infused Playlist
New Orleans’ Jazz and Heritage Festival is a month away, and the Jazz Fest Cubes are officially out. Whether your Jazz Fest experience will be confined to one weekend, or you are going hard for both jazz-filled weeks, you can finally check out the detailed daily schedule and start planning accordingly.
The lineup for 2016’s Jazz and Heritage Festival is jam packed with music legends including Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, Van Morrison, Pearl Jam, Elvis Costello and more; festival favorites Tedeschi Trucks Band, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, Galactic, The Revivalists, Snarky Puppy, to name a few, and countless New Orleans heavyweights including Irma Thomas, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Jon Cleary, Dr. John, Rebirth Brass Band, Kermit Ruffins, and the list goes on.
With such a heavy bill, it might be tempting to skip out on names you might not have heard of in favor of catching an act that sounds more familiar, but you might end up missing out on your new favorite band. That being said, it could take weeks of research to dive into every band on the schedule, so we put together a little Jazz Fest Spotify playlist to help point you in the right direction.
The mix includes a heavy dose of New Orleans jazz, world music, funk, folk, soul, and everything in between from names that you might not have on your radar. In addition to music from artists on the official lineup, we have included some tunes from bands that will be keeping the party going late into the night at the various bars and venues throughout the city after the main event.
