BLAM! Bonnaroo 2014 Lineup Revealed!
After many months of anticipation, the day is here: the Bonnaroo 2014 lineup will be revealed! This is the second year Bonnaroo organizers have held BLAM!, and the enthusiasm building up to this day and event is high and contagious. The pre-show, hosted by Ben Folds, features past Bonnaroo performances, personal memories from Bonnaroovians, an appearance from Festival Director, Janson Skivvy, heckling musicians, and performances shot just for the occasion, with artists confirmed for 2014 sprinkled throughout leading up to major announcements during BLAM! at 9pm EST.
Some of the very memorable past Bonnaroo performances from the 2014 pre-show include:
Jack Johnson “The Joker” (Steven Miller Band), Avett Brothers “Down to the River to Pray,” The Lumineers “Subterranean Homesick Blues” (Bob Dylan), Ben Folds “Bitches Ain’t Shit” (Dr. Dre), Portugal. the Man “So American” with special guest Weird Al Yankovic, and Allen Stone “Is This Love” (Bob Marley), Fitz & the Tantrums “Sweet Dreams,” My Morning Jacket “Sweet Nuthin'” (Velvet Underground), Phish “Rock & Roll” (Velvet Underground), J. Cole “I Ain’t Mad at Cha,” Tenacious D “Pinball Wizard / Tommy” (Pink Floyd), D’Angelo and Questlove “What Is and What Should Never Be” (Led Zeppelin), Kings of Leon “Where Is My Mind” (The Pixies), Fun “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” (The Rolling Stones), Superjam featuring Jim James, R. Kelly, and John Oats “A Change Is Gonna Come” and “Bring It Home to Me” (Sam Cooke).
At 9:00pm EST, Taran Killam and Hannibal Buress kicked off BLAM! revealing a handful of artists in their skit within the first few minutes. Ben Folds and The Flaming Lips made up BLAM!’s Superjam and performed both serious and comedic songs, like a fan-submitted song called “She Doesn’t Use Jelly,” Usher’s “Love In This Club.”
Bonnaroo is famous for snagging some of the biggest names in music each year, and this year it will feature artists like: Elton John, Kanye West, Lionel Richie, Jack White, Frank Ocean, Disclosure, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Ice Cube, Phoenix, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Bobby Womack, The Flaming Lips, The Avett Brothers, and James Blake, to name a few. Bonnaroo is also known for its Superjams, and the three for 2014 will be with Skrillex & Friends, The Bluegrass Situation Superjam hosted by Ed Helms, and a third Superjam, to be announced. The stark difference in the known Superjams speaks to the diverse crowd Bonnaroo draws each year, from dubstep lovers to bluegrass fanatics. Without further ado, we present the Bonnaroo 2014 lineup.
