Bassnectar: The Fifth Bass Brigade on the Rocks
Rumor had it that 2014 would be the last year that Lorin Ashton aka Bassnectar would be dropping bass all over Red Rocks. However, on January 26th of the New Year, a glorious post appeared on Bassnectar.net announcing that Lorin will be returning to the Rocks for a fifth round. Oh yeah – and he’s playing for not one, not two, but THREE nights. Thats right. May 29th, 30th, and 31st. A trifecta of epic nights filled with earth-rattling bass, friends, family, and some seriously trippy Nectar vibes; and what better scenery to view while witnessing the madness than the stunning Denver skyline, glistening from the city lights above the stage.
Last year’s event was unlike any show I have ever attended. The venue itself is incredibly alluring with its captivating beauty, and Red Rocks offers a musical experience that is unparalleled as a result of its naturally amplified sound. Last year’s openers included artists such as Breakscience, Sub Focus, and Kill Paris, and this year is offering even more opening acts with names like Joker, G. Jones (who opened up at Bassnectar’s NYE 360 show), Eskmo, Son of Kick, and Nightmares On Wax. Also, last year’s show included a special live performance from none other than the lovely W. Darling, singing “You and Me” alongside Lorin cranking out some heavy bass.
With so many highly-anticipated acts to catch at this upcoming show, it should come as no surprise to know that pre-sale/GA tickets sold out in record timing; you could say it was a ‘Cozza feeding Frenzy’ for Bassheads far and wide. VIP tickets are still available, but odds are will sell out soon enough. As if you weren’t already kicking yourself for not having gotten tickets, there will be another special guest performance at this year’s event, and I for one am already starting to feel all giddy. See you kids on the rocks.
